lemon cress smoothie

Cress or garden cress does contain lots of vitamins and some minerals. And I’m a fan of this herb. As a kid I got freshly harvested garden cress on a cream buttered sweet bread. With sugar on top. Yep. Heaven. It’s a herb that you could grow indoors, in the garden or on your balcony. And naturally. To buy in a carton at your local supermarket. It has this nutty bitter taste that is perfect with honey and yoghurt. To make a quick smoothie for on the go

ingredients

  1. 1 cup of (garden) cress
  2. 1 tsp. of honey
  3. 1/2 a lemon
  4. 3 tbs. of natural, Greek or French yoghurt 

alternative ingredients

honey ☜☟☞ syrup

TOOLS

  • a clean kitchen towel
  • a knife
  • a sieve or colander
  • an orange or lemon squeezer
  • a grater
  • a blender

steps (PREP. & ACTUAL COOKING)

  1. Harvest 2 hands full of cress (the whole shebang, so stems +leaves) 
  2. Wash & sieve  cress
  3. Add cress to blender
  4. Wash & towel dry lemon
  5. Grate skin from lemon
  6. Add pulp to blender
  7. Cut naked lemon in half
  8. Store one half
  9. Squeeze juice from the other half
  10. Pour juice into blender
  11. Add honey and yoghurt to blender
  12. Give the blender a few good jolts
  13. Pour smoothie into tall glass or jar with lid (for on the go)
  14. Bon appétit
